Junior membership is offered to anyone under the age of 18 years and younger who is an immediate family member of an American Legion member or a deceased veteran.

As the world's largest women's patriotic organization, the American Legion Auxiliary recognizes that female Junior members will be the leaders of tomorrow. Through your volunteerism in the various programs and services involving veterans and their communities, you can learn leadership skills, earn credit for your volunteerism and meet other girls who can become your lifelong friends.

Auxiliary Junior members not only help our veterans, but they have participated in the following National programs: Girls State, Children's Miracle Network, Make-A-Difference Day, Service to Veterans, and the Junior Patch Program.

Unit 716 Junior Auxiliary successfully send 120 "Comfort Kits".  A year long service project to benefit our active duty military serving in Afghanistan and Iraq exceeds original goal of 100 comfort kits by twenty, making this project highly successful.  The girls shopped for the goodies to fill the boxes, packaged it all up, filled out the customs forms, and included notes of cheer and appreciation in each box.  It took $1,595, raised by the girls, as well as $700 in donated goods and 270 hours to accomplish this project.  Way to go Unit 716 Junior Auxiliary!

Unit 716 Junior Program Chairman, Stephanie Janji hosted the 2nd Annual Junior Jamboree on October 1, 2011,  at  Los Alamitos Post 716.  A total of 63 Juniors attended from as far north as Camarillo and east of Hesperia, and as far south as San Diego. 
National Auxiliary President, Kris Nelson, along with Department President, Linda Fercho, were among the distinguished guests in attendance.  The theme for this years event was on National Security, Americanism, VA&R and Field Service.  Activities included:

- American Red Cross- Veteran History Project
- Care Packages
- Los Angeles Sheriff Dept.- Self Defense Awareness
- Flag Disposal Ceremony
- Letters to Veterans
- American Red Cross- Intro to C.P.R.
- M.R.E. (Meals Ready to Eat)  
- Pocket Flags

A total of 70 individual Comfort Kits were packaged to ship to our troops overseas and over 200 pocket flags were  folded.  By completing all the stations, the girls are on their way to completing the requirements for four of their Junior Patches.
